Prefab timber construction is growing rapidly in the Netherlands. More and more construction companies are producing complete timber modules in factories, often including installations and façade finishing. This speeds up the construction process, reduces nitrogen and CO₂ emissions, and improves quality. But that quality depends on effective airtight sealing — starting already in the prefabrication phase.

Airtight Sealing in Prefab Construction

In prefab timber frame construction, foam and cellular rubber tapes are often integrated directly into the building elements. Think of joints around window frames, roof elements, or floor-to-wall connections. Compression tapes automatically adapt to variations in joint widths. By integrating these solutions during factory production, airtight construction becomes not only more reliable, but also faster and easier on-site.

Most prefab sealing solutions are still supplied in foam and cellular rubber — simply because they work. But we are also looking ahead.
