Crumb rubber

Crumb rubber (or granulated rubber) is made from granulated pellets of recycled SBR rubber. It has extremely good sound-absorbing and insulating properties. It is used for a range of applications such as subflooring/flooring, insulation, to secure loads in transport, as tile supports and as bearing pad rubber.

    Properties of crumb rubber

Crumb rubber consists entirely of recycled SBR rubber. The rubber is reduced to small granules (granulated pellets) and these are then bound together using a high-quality polyurethane (PUR). The material is then processed by special machinery into sheets and rolls. It is a durable material with a long lifespan. Granulated rubber has good weather-resistant, sound-absorbing and insulating properties and is multifunctional, but it is permeable to water. It can be used in situations involving contact with sodium chloride, weak acids, and alkaline solutions. The material is easy to cut and can be delivered in many different widths and thicknesses. Crumb rubber has natural anti-slip properties and can be used at a wide range of temperatures. We supply granulated rubber in the colour black. Because the use of recycled granules results in a textured material, the black colour will be uneven. We supply the rubber in unglued rolls and sheets of various sizes. We can also cut a range of customised shapes from these rolls and sheets.

    Crumb rubber applications

Crumb rubber can be used for all kinds of applications. For example, the recycled granulated rubber’s anti-slip properties mean that this material is commonly used as subflooring, temporary flooring or as flooring for gyms. However, we mainly supply it in strips that are used in the transport sector, for example, to secure loads and prevent cargo from sliding about. The sound- and vibration-absorbing properties of crumb rubber make it ideal for these purposes. This is also the reason the rubber is often used as bearing pad rubber. In addition, the material is highly suitable for manufacturing tile supports , which are used in gardens and on terraces. Another use for crumb rubber is the production of underlay strips, protective layers, seals and acoustic strips in large concrete structures . Finally, the material is used to make rubber runners for roofs.
