Properties of EPDM membrane

While EPDM membrane is best known as EPDM roof membrane and EPDM pond liner, there are many more applications for this highly versatile material. For example, it can be used for sealing and protecting various elements in construction. Thanks to the EPDM raw material, it is very resistant to UV and ozone, is resistant to weather influences, and is watertight and airtight. Because the membrane is not sensitive to large temperature fluctuations, it can be used both indoors and outdoors. EPDM membrane is an incredibly durable material, resists ageing well, and has a long lifespan. It also remains flexible in the long term due to its good mechanical properties, is easy to process and is recyclable. Finally, it also has shock-absorbing and sound-absorbing qualities. However, because the material is difficult to coat with glue, we cannot guarantee that adhesion will be durable in the long term.

Uses of EPDM membrane

This material is not generally used for familiar applications such as roof membrane and pond liner, but this EKI material is suitable for many other uses. For example, it is used to seal and protect various building components such as window frames, gutters, cavity wall structures and partition walls. EPDM membrane is used to protect these from leakage and moisture. In airtight construction, it is used to prevent the passage of air through walls and floors. It is also used to provide a seal against water in aluminium and steel windows, in the electrical industry, and as a water barrier in facades.
